I am switching cooktops and my quartz cutout is about half an inch short of the cooktop I want to buy. Which type of contractor would do this task, and what’s involved? Can they cut in place? So we moved into our new House in Jan, Our kitchen is a dark quartz with greenish undertones. My wife and I absolutely hate it. It makes the kitchen feel really small and dark. But I also hate the idea of spending $50+ a sq/ft to replace it. I was considering replacing it with laminate or butcherblock in order to lighten up the room and not have to spend a ton of $$$. I know people love granite, and it's expensive. So is this a bad idea?

I managed to somehow knock a small chip (about half an inch long my a quarter of an inch wide) out of the edge of my white quartz counter. Does anyone have any recommendations for a company that may be able to repair the chip? Is this something that can even be fixed? Combine 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol, 1/2 tsp of dish soap, and 1 1/2 cups warm water in a bottle. A few drops of essential oil is good for extra scent. Voila! A disinfecting cleaner that won’t damage your stone countertops. Typical cleaners are too abrasive or contains citric acids that damage the sealants. I recently got a chip in my Silestone quartz countertop when a ceramic plate fell onto it. The plate survived unscathed but the countertop now has a nasty chip in it (probably .5” wide). Any ideas on how to properly repair this? I have done some internet research which suggested CA glue (super glue). I happen to have a spare piece of the the same material that was once the backsplash. I tried the CA glue on the spare piece but it is still pretty noticeable. Any ideas Redditors? https://imgu...
